For example, the Swiss Alps and Christmas season are both big draws during winter months.

Badminton, squash, tennis, water sports and hiking are all popular way to pass time from spring through fall and snow sports take over throughout winter. Each July, the town hosts their annual Montreux Jazz Festival held along the shore of Lake Geneva. In August, all along the shore of Lake Geneva you will find Geneva Festival with concerts, carnival rides and fireworks. A very unique Swiss event, known as Alpabfahrt or Desalpe, takes place during the September and October months when the cows come back to the valleys ahead of the colder months. They are greeted with floral arrangements to wear on their head, yodeling, bands playing music for them and a festive scene all around.
Switzerland’s cuisine is influenced by its neighboring countries, and is famous for its cheese and chocolate. Switzerland is home to many varieties of cheese, not just what many call “Swiss cheese.” Each region of the country is known for its own local specialties. There are even local tours called the “Cheese Train” and “Chocolate Train,” where you can explore the area and sample selections.
When you are ready to warm up, don’t forget Switzerland is the home of fondue melted cheese served with cubes of bread. If you enjoy potatoes, try rosti (a flat cake made of potato) alplermagronen (gratin potatoes, macaroni and cheese with onion) or raclette (melted cheese, potato, gherkins and onion).
