National Apricot Day

National Apricot Day

National Apricot Day January 9th in the United States. It is said that the apricot is originally from the Armenian region andthrough time it expanded through the famous “Silk Road.” The apricot was first introduced to the New World in 1700 by French explorers, and then again was brought to the west coast of the United States by Spanish missionaries. The fruit has a distinctive flavor unlike any other fruit, but it can be said that it is similar to a peach, just not as juicy. The fruit is high in antitoxins and is a great source of vitamins. Due to its short shelf life, many times the fruit is canned or dried. This fruit is great as a healthy snack, so be sure to rotate it into your onboard dining experience.
