National Cheese Doodle Day

National Cheese Doodle Day

The cheese doodle is a cheese puff produced by Wise Foods, that was originally developed and manufactured by King Kone of the Bronx. The snack became popular on the East Coast; it debuted several years after the famous Frito-Lay snack called Cheetos.

Today, cheese doodles come in a variety of flavors such as Hot n’ Honey Cheese flavor. About 15 million pounds of cheese doodles are created each year. It is said that this snack was one of Julia Child’s favorite packaged snack food. I think it’s because your fingers will turn orange after eating a couple of them.

Cooks around the world have experimented with the cheese doodle with concoctions ranging from chocolate-covered doodles, a peanut butter and cheese doodle sandwich, and even a cheese doodle macaron. So, today get your fingers orange and enjoy some cheese doodles.
