National Oreo Day

National Oreo Day

Today we celebrate the iconic Oreo cookie! Do you twist it, dip it, or just eat it? The Oreo sandwiches are two chocolate disks with a sweet cream filling that everyone loves. The cookie is the best-selling cookie in the United States, and was first produced and named in 1912 in a factory in New York City on the block which was known as “Oreo Way.” The original name was” Oreo Biscuit” and renamed to “Oreo Sandwich” later in 1921, and 1948 renamed again to “Oreo Cream Sandwich.”

The first Oreo cookies were sold in a glass jar for 25 cents per jar, and the modern way of packaging these cookies was developed in 1952 with the Nabisco logo on it. Today, there are many different flavors of Oreos available in 100 countries. They say since 1912, over 450 billion Oreos have been produced. The United States, Venezuela, China, Canada and Indonesia are the top consumers of the famous Oreo.

So, today enjoy some Oreos! Who needs a glass of milk?
